Meet the Maven: Jamie Gibson

Founder of Flightess | Corporate Flight Attendant | Mentor | Experience Architect

It’s not every day you meet someone who has reshaped an entire industry from within. But Jamie Gibson, founder of Flightess, has done exactly that.

With over a decade of experience in corporate aviation, Jamie has established herself as both a leader in the field and a mentor to hundreds of aspiring flight attendants around the globe. Through Flightess—the first and largest global platform dedicated to corporate flight attendants—she’s built a community grounded in excellence, intention, and generosity. Her work merges the art of luxury service with the power of mentorship and personal growth.

At Maven Within, we admire women who not only lead—but lift others as they go. Jamie is a masterclass in just that.

In Her Own Words

What does authentic leadership mean to you?

“To me, it means showing up fully without hiding, posturing, or self-editing. It’s the courage to lead with honesty, vulnerability, and emotion—knowing these are not weaknesses, but superpowers.

I’ve always loved Harvard’s definition of leadership: making others better as a result of your presence and ensuring that impact endures in your absence. That, to me, is the gold standard: presence with purpose.”

What helps you stay grounded in high-pressure moments?

“Mantras are my anchor. In the chaos, I quietly repeat: ‘This is not an emergency. I am safe.’ That one phrase signals my nervous system to step out of survival mode so that my pragmatic, solution-oriented self can step forward. It’s a small recalibration that creates big clarity.”

A moment that redefined your idea of success or purpose:

“When I began to intentionally architect my career, I adopted two guiding principles:

  1. Leave people better than you found them

  2. To be successful is to be adored by children and respected by intelligent people (inspired by Emerson)
Those values—impact and integrity—continue to shape how I define success in my work and my life.”

How do you protect your energy and values?

“I live by: ‘If it’s not a hell yes, it’s a hell no.’ I trust that initial spark. If something doesn’t excite or align from the start, I likely won’t have the capacity to do it wholeheartedly later. Practicing intellectual honesty with myself has been essential.”

What excites you most about Maven Within?

“It’s rare to gather corporate flight attendants in a space that’s not performance-driven or convention-based. This retreat feels like an intentional pause—an invitation to reconnect and recalibrate. It’s a space where we can let our guards down, speak freely, and return to ourselves. When that kind of vulnerability meets community, growth becomes inevitable.”

I feel most like myself when...

“First thing in the morning, loving on my babies—or 45,000 feet in the air, creating five-star experiences for clients. They may seem worlds apart, but both reflect who I am: devoted, present, and joyfully intentional.”

Workshop Spotlight: “Elevate Your Galley Game” – Practical Culinary Demo with Jamie

Who says luxury dining needs a full kitchen?

In this practical and inspiring culinary demonstration, Jamie will show how to transform in-flight ingredients into elegant, elevated dishes—using only the standard tools available onboard (yes, even the microwave).

She’ll share her expert tips on:

  • Planning and plating for limited space and time

  • Creative hacks for reheating and finishing dishes

  • Simple garnishes that make a big impact

  • Maximizing flavor without compromising safety or standards

Attendees will walk away with confidence, creativity, and recipes designed for real flight conditions—because excellence isn’t about having it all, it’s about knowing how to use what you’ve got.

Why We Can’t Wait to Learn From Her

Jamie leads with intention, clarity, and compassion. Whether she’s mentoring a new CFA or turning a galley into a five-star kitchen, she embodies what it means to bring presence and purpose to your craft. We’re proud to have her as part of the Maven Within community.
